Harlequin Death Jester

So the new Harlequin Codex/Supplement/dataslate/whatever they end up calling it has got me stoked.  Harlequins where really my first army in 40k.  I was an Eldar player, but the first real force that I look the field with were the murder clowns.  With the leaks already, I feel they are getting the attention I think they deserve.  I know I cannot wait until I get my hands on that new Solitaire.  On to the model.

This is one of the three old style Death Jesters.  The original boxset from GW came with 16 models, three of which were Death Jesters.  This one is easily my favorite.  I used this model as an exarch for years during 2nd ed when he wasn't in my Harlequin force.  For a model from 1989, I think it really holds up and definitely still inspiring the current sculpt.

These were some of the first diamonds I have done in some time.  I think they came out well.  I spent a bit more time than in the past and I think the finished product shows that.  I kept the rest of the model very dark.  I changed up some colors than my traditional Eldar scheme.

I have a whole mess of Harlequins on my table right now.  If Harlequins get new Jetbikes, I think my head will explode. I haven't pre-ordered anything from GW since 8th edition fantasy rulebook.  Eldar Harlequins will reset that clock.

Alaitoc Army Update

I have not posted much, none actually, this month.  There is a reason for this.  I haven't really been painting that much, let alone finishing much.  I did manage to finish up my third out of four Wave Serpents.  I got in the mail some more Warp Spiders, but I hate the model so much I am having trouble working on them.  I have 9 total now, but I can't seem to find a scheme that doesn't make them look like crap.  Some models are so old and bad paint alone cannot salvage them.  It's a shame really.  The unit is so good.

The pics are of my display cases.  It helps put the entire army in perspective as to what's done.

On the table I have the aforementioned Warp Spiders, Storm Guardians, Guardian Crewmen, and Rangers.  I honestly cannot get excited about any of them.  That titan needs to show up soon.

Eldar Alaitoc Jet Cycle (Windrider Jetbike)

I got this metal long OOP Eldar Jet Cycle about a decade ago in an army deal off ebay.  I never really thought about painting it till recently and thought that a  unit of them would look well with some of my older Guardians.  It's a fairly simple model, only 5 pieces, but conveys an elegance you get in 80s era GW models.  The paint scheme  is that of the rest of my Craftworld forces and will be a guide for the rest of my plastic Jetbikes.

I had held off on doing any type of Jetbikes in anticipation for a new model.  With no Jetbike model with the new Codex release I finally decided to strip and paint the old ones I have. They are not in the best condition, but painting and some creative techniques I am hopeful I can salvage them and make them presentable.

Eldar Alaitoc Wave Serpent and Guardians

I decided to do a bit of a scene here, mostly due to the fact that I have a completed Wave Serpent and Guardians who already have their own posts and my light-box is not big enough for this.  None of these metal Guardians are of different poses of the 20 of the ones I have already finished and the only difference with the Wave Serpent is the Scatter Lasers on the turret instead of Shuriken Cannons.  That is in response to the new Codex and the uber coolness that the Wave Serpent has acquired. So as it stands I have 30 metal Guardians finished for my standard play lists. Among these are 10 different poses for a decent amount of variety.

I plan on doing a 3rd Wave Serpent, and the top hull is primed, but I need a break from the Eldar tank chassis.  I love the chassis and all, but it gets a bit monotonous when every tank uses it.  I would like to do some Jetbikes next, but the 5 of the ones I have were all bought used and just abused painting and modeling wise.  LA totally Awesome can only do so much.  I also have 4 Warp Spiders and an Avatar fresh out of the Pinesol so they are options as well.

Eldar Alaitoc Guardians

I have never been a fan of the current plastic Guardian models.  They definitely are showing their age and unfortunately because they are already in plastic GW will most likely not release a new kit anytime soon.  Added to the fact that the two squads of the plastic ones I have were already painted when I got them and the previous owner didn't bother to do the little things like different poses or mold line scraping.  I love the detail and individuality that the older metal Guardians posses.  You can field a unit of 10 models that all look distinctly different.  So far I have two and half squads worth of minis off ebay while still looking for more.

As to the paint scheme it fits my vehicle scheme of Alaitoc.  I'm looking to update my 10 Pathfinders next.
